Lucion are determined to be at the forefront of our profession. This year Lucion has not only responded to changes in legislation, we have also upgraded our technology systems. Alongside these continuous improvements Lucion are constantly developing our quality, environmental and health and safety standards. This hard work has paid off as Lucion have recently been awarded accreditation to OHSAS 18001, alongside our existing ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and UKAS accreditations.
The ISO 9001 is one of a series of quality management system standards designed to establish an effective quality management framework. Quality management is essential to improving customer satisfaction and staff motivation and performance within any sector but is especially important within the asbestos industry where document control, employee competence, up to date training and audit systems are all imperative to the quality of service given to the client.
Lucion also hold ISO 14001 accreditation, which sets out the requirements for an effective Environmental Management System (EMS). If implemented correctly, a successful EMS will reduce the impact the company has on the surrounding environment. As environmental issues become a universal concern to both small and large companies it is important to have a system in place to create a balance between profitability and sustainability. This has further merited Lucion as a supplier to increasingly environmentally conscious public and private sector clients.
OHSAS 18001 is a similar, internationally recognised standard for Health and Safety Management. It allows Lucion to ensure that our Health and Safety policies and procedures provide the correct information and equipment to identify, control and reduce risks in the working environment for all staff, whether office or site based. This standard encourages us to continue to improve our targets and our communication both with clients and employees regarding the latest health and safety guidance.
Holding the three accreditations, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 means Lucion can provide a trusted service to clients with the highest standard of Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety Management. Through the combination of these three accreditations from the British Standards Institute Lucion now also holds the PAS 99 accreditation. PAS 99 is a Publically Available Specification (PAS) and is the world’s first integrated management system requirements specification based on the six common requirements of ISO guide 72.
Lucion’s Managing Director Patrick Morton said of the accomplishment “achieving recognised global standards such as this not only showcases our dedication to quality, environmental and health and safety standards to our clients, but also continues to drive our main ambition to provide the best quality of service as a supplier. Holding an integrated specification such as PAS 99 from BSI provides a cohesive and interconnected management system combining quality, environmental and health and safety requirements”.
