Dr Patrick Morton – Managing Director
“I’m as excited as our clients are at the developments that are taking place within Lucion and the way we’re helping to lead the way in quality asbestos management.”
Patrick was a co-founder of Lucion in 2002. After leaving school in Belfast, he studied at Leeds University before gaining extensive asbestos experience with an established North East of England consultancy. Since then he has overseen Lucion’s growth and has been involved in the management of large-scale asbestos-related projects from initial tender to handover of final completion documentation. His prime responsibility is for the company’s quality control aspects and the maintaining of UKAS Testing Laboratory and Inspection Body Accreditation. Although Lucion already has a genuine national presence in the asbestos management field, Patrick and his team are already looking to open up further bases around the UK.
Charles Pickles – Financial Director
“Modern-day asbestos management is about gathering high quality data. The key to success is how that information is managed. That is our real strength”
When Charles co-founded Lucion with Patrick Morton he brought his analytical qualities to the partnership. Again like Patrick, he had honed his skills at various asbestos laboratories as an asbestos analyst and surveyor. He handled surveys and report production, bulk sample analysis, stack emissions and LEV monitoring, and asbestos project management advising on appropriate remedial actions and clearance testing. His Geography degree from Durham University and his MSc in Environmental Engineering from Newcastle laid the foundations for his meticulous approach to information management. He passionately believes in the accurate and efficient collecting of dynamic data and using it to find the right solutions through UKAS accreditation.
Phil Rozier – Director
“Taking Lucion Environmental’s surveying for hazardous materials skills to the Marine market is a fantastic and rewarding challenge that I’m delighted to be undertaking”
Coming from within the industry, Phil joined Lucion Environmental in 2006 to manage the project to carry out over 900 asbestos surveys on the Portsmouth Naval Base that Lucion had been awarded by Fleet Support Limited. Patrick and Charles had planned an expansion program to enable Lucion Environmental to offer the same excellent, customer focused services to prospective clients in the South of England that it has been offering in the North. So, following the early completion of the Portsmouth project, Phil was tasked with setting up the Southern Regional office of the company. Phil quickly found a suitable premises in Crawley and, as a result of a meeting he had with the Officer in charge of disposing of the Royal Navy’s redundant ships, won the contract to environmentally clean HMS Ramehead which was due to be sold. Through his excellent project management skills, Phil delivered the project on time and in full, which led to Lucion Environmental being given the contract to survey all of the Royal Navy and Royal Fleet Auxiliary surface vessels. Phil launched the new Marine Division of Lucion Environmental in 2009. In acknowledgement of his contribution to the growth and diversification of the company, Phil was made a Director in September 2009 and he continues to find innovative solutions to demanding issues.
